The Salomon R. Guggenheim Foundation was incorporated in 1937.
The first permanent home for the museum was designed by Frank
Lloyd Wright. The bulding opened in 1959.
In 1992, the Frank Lloyd Wright bulding was restored and supplemented by a new tower, adding considerable overall exhibition space while allowing Wright's great rotunda and the
monitor building te be seen in all their splendor.
